The healing effect of being utterly in the moment

On Sunday I managed to do something I have been meaning to do for a long time: seizing the moment and just painting. Golly, I am not the worlds greatest painter by any means and it’s been absolutely ages since I last painted a picture – we are talking years! Yet, I do remember how much I enjoyed it just being in the moment and painting away, expressing myself with beautiful colours on paper.


So this Sunday it really hit me: what am I doing constantly being busy with all kinds of things like feeling I have to do something for our lovely Dance & Yoga School or I have to clean, or I have to be gardening or sorting something out – STOP! Yes, I thought: STOP – seize the moment and make the most of Lockdown 2! This is a gift, girl – you won’t get that chance again in a hurry! For goodness sake make the most of this time and just stay in the moment!

So I took my acrylics out and a large piece of paper and started to first outline what I wanted to express and then started to paint…I was utterly in the moment and utterly in flow…I decided to express the amazing growth I have experienced since I first arrived in the UK in 1986…an innocent budding rose filled with Love and sunshine…a growing plant wishing to grow…and then going through some darkness…a broken heart…self doubt…insecurity…fear…and coming out of it…my deep journey with Yoga…the deepest gratitude I feel for having been able to deepen my knowledge of Yoga and my huge journey of discovery, purification and transformation …always driven by this urge to grow even more…

Time just melted away as I expressed my feelings onto paper…I was utterly in flow…loving every minute of it…

When the moment of completion came…I felt complete relief…something inside me had shifted…had left me for good…I felt free, cheerful and full of energy…I had shed something onto this large piece of paper filled with colours and symbols of my Journey here in the UK up to this moment…and I had expressed my deep urge for more growth…a longing greater than ever!Β 

Something inside me had healed…had gone for good…and brought me right to this very moment – the here and now. I woke up the next morning and I virtually jumped out of bed – full of vigour, full of joy!Β 

This moment I took to absolutely seize it with both hands and be in the here and now so utterly and completely has left me completely centered …able to be in every single moment and feeling utterly contented…making the most of this time I have to just be and loving every minute of it!Β 

And my picture hangs on the wall as a living proof of the amazing healing I have experienced by allowing myself to just be in the moment and expressing my heart!

May this inspire you to see the gift of this time and make the most of it! Yoga means Union – to be in Union with Life and every gifted moment…experiencing the utter peace and joy of the moment…right here…right now…

Express yourself and allow yourself to just be!

Yes, Happy International Men’s Day to all you wonderful guys!

You guys deserve to be celebrated and have your very own Special Day!
This year’s theme is: better health for men & boys. Absolutely perfect at this very moment – you need to do everything in your power to stay strong, happy and healthy!

I would like to dedicate this blog to all you wonderful guys who attend our Sol Yoga Living Yoga Classes every single week – and very often twice a week! You are obviously feeling the benefits of your Yoga Journey and the spark of the wish for ever more transformation has been ignited in you! πŸ™‚

It fills me with joy to see how much you guys have blossomed and evolved on your Yoga Journey. Peeling away those old layers that no longer serve you and revealing the true you more and more.

We carry a lot of tension from the day, the previous day, an event that happened and has not been digested well, from our past, from our family, from our ancestors…and here at our Yoga Classes we transform this tension into energy – wonderful energy that gives us fuel for the next moment, tomorrow, for our life ahead!

Yes, we are alchemists of our own energy – transforming it on the Yoga mat every single time we step on it!

And wonderful Yogis I can see you have discovered that magic about your Yoga practice and this brings you back to the Yoga mat every single time!

An Ode to you guys on International Men’s Day 2020 – you know how to stay happy, healthy and strong and blossom into all you can be in this Life!

Diwali – Festival of Light!

Happy Diwali – Festival of Light dear Yogi Friends!

Yes, today is the highlight of Diwali – the Festival of Lights. It’s the 3rd day of the 5 day celebration. This highlight is celebrated on the day of the New Moon either at the end of October or the Beginning of November and today is the day!

Wherever we are in the world – this is worth celebrating! πŸ™‚ Celebrating the victory of light over darkness and most importantly celebrating our own Inner Light!

This beautiful candle flame inside of us is always there and always alight – nothing can blow out this candle light! Absolutely nothing! <3

In our current situation with this Covid-19 pandemic it is more important than ever for us to remember this light inside of us – that always shines no matter what! We are pure light inside!

So whenever we find ourselves in darkness, let’s remember this light inside of and shine that light into the darkness. Whatever situation we find ourselves in: let’s first ask ourselves, what can I do about it? – if there is nothing we can do about it, let’s accept this situation for what it is. Acceptance brings a new foundation with it, a new ground level and from this level we are then able to make the best of whatever there is for US – and shine our Inner Light on it! <3

In all the ups and downs of life and my very own mood fluctuations I do remember that light. I feel whatever I am feeling that very moment, yet I am not becoming it – as I know there is this light inside of me that is my true nature!

Day 12 of my “cool way” to boost my Immune System

Happy Thursday dear Yogi Friends!

Yes, another week has gone by and it’s Yoga Day again tonight! I am on day 12 of my “Cold Shower Challenge” and I am feeling great!

Every day after my lovely warm shower I turn the dial to cold and breathe through a few seconds of a cold water shower. I am able to feel a difference already: I am feeling clearer in my head, more alert, feeling uplifted, more resilient not just physically yet in spirit too, my system feels stronger …and I don’t feel the cold as much as I used to!

So worth it!

Those cold water moments on top of our amazing Yoga Practice is all we need to keep us strong, healthy and happy!

We are blossoming Yogis!

Can’t wait to see you on the Yoga mat to continue our wonderful journey together!

A “cool” way to boost our Immune System!

Happy Thursday lovely Yogi Friends!

Here we go again: Lockdown 2 has just started. Some of you might find this rather difficult and some of you are able to flow with it better. For me personally, I really don’t mind at all – whatever it takes to help us all stay healthy and save lives!

There is no easy answer out of this situation with Covid-19 – one thing is for sure: it’s not worth getting it!

So what can we do?

Yes, there is something we can do: we can keep our Immune System strong and resilient! There is a really “cool” way to boost your Immune System – yes, literally: it’s taking a cold shower every morning! πŸ™‚

What? I hear you saying? It’s cold enough as it is – a “cold shower” – you must be joking!

My own Yoga Teacher Steve has just invited us all to a “30 day cold shower challenge”. At first, I was just like you – what? you can’t be serious, I freeze from Sep to May as it is! – yet, then something swung it for me: I can have my usual warm shower and then just at the end I turn the dial for initially only a few seconds to cold…wow, Yogis it feels really good! πŸ™‚ Certainly nothing feels cold after this cold shower spell – everything afterwards feels warm! πŸ™‚

And it does wonders for our Immune System:

  • the body starts working to keep us warm – so it raises our metabolic rate
  • with the result of an increased production in white blood cells responsible for giving us a robust immune system and powering up to fight off viruses
  • and it really gives you a kick start for the day!
  • breathing slowly and deeply through the cold shower really helps and just a few seconds do the trick – we need to go easy and build up slowly!

I am currently on day 5 and it feels great! – I’ll keep you posted! πŸ™‚

We are called up to take responsibility for our own health and wellbeing!
